What Is The Sanctuary Of Truth In Pattaya

The Sanctuary of Truth is a museum that combines elements of an art installation, religious shrine and cultural monument. It is constructed completely of elaborately carved wood without any metal nails and boasts a breathtaking vista of the ocean.

Its architecture and location are stunning, with separate wings devoted to Thai, Khmer, Chinese and Indian religious iconography.

Lek Viriyaphant, a wealthy Thai, conceived of the elaborate temple-like complex and used his fortune to fund it and other historic projects that resurrected and maintained ancient building techniques and architecture that were in risk of being lost forever.

This building has been under construction since 1981 and is still not complete, demonstrating the continued relevance of hand-hewn woodworking skills.

The 105-meter-tall structure is completely covered in wood carvings of Hindu and Buddhist deities and goddesses, representing an artistic unification of millennia’ worth of religious tales.

Every 30 minutes, tourists can take part in a guided tour of the building that is offered in a variety of languages. At 11:30 and 3:00, you can watch live performances of traditional Thai dance.
