Bangkok is both an exciting and stressful place to visit but before you arrive in Thailand, be sure to do a bit of research on the city and its customs. When visiting a new city, it’s important to understand the local customs and norms so that you can better fit in. You’ll arrive at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.
You can take a taxi to the city (around 50 baht) or go to the information desk where they can help you get a ticket for the Airport Rail Link and can apply for a 30-day visa at the immigration counter, which will take you straight to your hotel at Silom so you can drop off your bags .
Bangkok’s Top Sights
Take a quick walk around Bangkok’s top sights, which include Khao San Road, Sukhumvit Road, Silom Road, Siam Square and Chinatown. After grabbing food at one of Bangkok’s famous street food stalls, head to Wat Arun, Bangkok’s oldest temple.
From there you can go to Jim Thompson House, the house where the legendary Jim Thompson lived and worked. You’ll have time to explore the house, see the artifacts, and get a glimpse of the life of an art dealer. While you’re in Bangkok, be sure to check out the city’s nightlife.
There are plenty of bars, clubs, and restaurants that are open until the wee hours of the morning. If you can’t stay up until 4AM, you can also head to the Royal Club in Sukhumvit District to see a live performance.
2 Day Orientation Tour
This 2-day tour of Bangkok and the surrounding areas is a good introduction to the city. You’ll explore the city’s famous sites, including Khao San Road and Jim Thompson House, and learn some local traditions, including Thai boxing and the Bangkok Walking Street.

You’ll travel through the Golden Triangle, a part of the country that’s home to a large amount of the world’s heroin.
You’ll spend 2 days in Bangkok, including a visit to Jim Thompson House, a Chinatown tour, and a visit to Khao San Road. On the second day, you’ll head to the northern city of Chiang Mai. You’ll arrive at night, so you’ll have time to explore the city before dinner. After dinner, you’ll take a walking tour of the city’s nightlife and have time to shop for souvenirs.
Bangkok, Pattaya And Chiang Mai
This tour explores the best of Bangkok, the northern city of Pattaya, and the mountainous city of Chiang Mai. You’ll start in Bangkok, where you’ll explore the city’s top sights, including Wat Arun and Khao San Road. You’ll also shop for art, antiques, and other wares at a weekend market. After a couple of days in Bangkok, you’ll go to the nearby city of Pattaya for a few days of beach time and shopping.
Your next stop will be the northern city of Chiang Mai, where you’ll also have time for shopping. This tour ends with a final visit to Bangkok, since you’ll have plenty of time to explore the city’s top sights.
Bangkok, The Golden Triangle And Ayuthaya
This tour explores the best of Bangkok, the northern city of Golden Triangle, and the southern city of Ayuthaya. You’ll start in Bangkok, where you’ll explore the city’s top sights, including Wat Arun and Khao San Road. You’ll also shop for art, antiques, and other wares at a weekend market.
After a couple of days in Bangkok, you’ll go to the nearby city of Golden Triangle, home to the world’s largest heroin lab. You’ll also get a look at local traditions, including opium smoking. You’ll have time for shopping before heading to Ayuthaya, the historic city where you’ll spend a few nights. You’ll have enough time to explore this temple before you go back to Bangkok.
If you’d like to take a side trip, you can visit the ancient city of Sukhothai, about an hour away from Bangkok. This city has beautiful temples, and is worth a visit if you have time.
